The Hollywood Foreign Press announce their nominations early Thursday morning. As most of you know, there are two categories for Best Picture, drama and musical/comedy. Getting nominated usually provides a healthy boost for a film and increases its chances dramatically at landing an Oscar nomination. Here are our predictions.

Best Picture (Drama)

Babel
Blood Diamond
The Departed
Flags of Our Fathers
The Queen

Best Picture (Musical/Comedy)

Borat
The Devil Wears Prada
Dreamgirls
Little Miss Sunshine
A Prairie Home Companion

Analysis: Many people are predicting “World Trade Center” for drama, but we think the overall poor quality of the picture will overcome its sense of “importance” and derail its bid, much like what happened with “Cinderella Man” last year. “United 93” and “Little Children” have wowed critics, but they may be a little too small for the Globes. Though some found it offensive and distasteful, “Borat” seems too much of a phenomenon to ignore. We wouldn’t be all too surprised if “Cars” snuck in there though, since the HFP have previously nominated many Pixar films. Finally, with the recent passing of Robert Altman, we think “A Prairie Home Companion” makes the cut for sentimental reasons.

Note: “Letters From Iwo Jima” is not eligible in the Best Picture category due to Golden Globe rules, but it is eligible for foreign language film and other categories.Planet of the Apes movie
