Tonight is the final major awards show before the Oscars and a lot is at stake. The spotlight is on the actress race, where Meryl Streep faces off against Viola Davis. Streep won the Golden Globe while Davis won the Broadcast award, so tonight serves as the tiebreaker. The winner becomes the de facto frontrunner for the Oscar. There is milder drama in the Best Actor race. George Clooney appears on the way to his first lead Oscar win, but you cannot discount Jean Dujardin, winner of the Golden Globe for Best Actor Musical/Comedy. Many in the industry think that Dujardin would be a lock for the Oscar this year if not for the starpower of Clooney. Here are our predictions for tonight:

Best Supporting Actress: Octavia Spencer, The Help

Best Supporting Actor: Christopher Plummer, Beginners

Best Actress: Viola Davis, The Help

Best Actor: George Clooney, The Descendants

Best Ensemble: The Artist
