THE DGA announces their nominations Thursday. From a historical perspctive, the DGA aligns most closely with the Academy when it comes to their Best Picture nominees. In 2005 and 2006, they were five for five, and in years before, they at least selected four of the five films. Last year was an exception when Julian Schnabel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and Sean Penn (Into The Wild) received nominations, but their films were not nominated by the Academy. This year’s honorees seems fairly predictable. Here are our predictions:

David Fincher, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
Gus Van Sant, “Milk”
Christopher Nolan, “The Dark Knight”
Ron Howard, “Frost/Nixon”
Danny Boyle, “Slumdog Millionaire”
