Tomorrow night, the BFCA will announce their winners in all major categories. The Broadcast Awards, also referred to as the Critics Choice awards, are the first major awards show of the year. Their Best Picture winner instantly becomes the frontrunner to take home the Oscar. In the last two years, the winner was easy to predict. No Country for Old Men and Slumdog Millionaire pretty much swept all the awards. This year is different. There are three very good films all in the mix. Will it be Up in the Air, the clever dramedy starring the popular George Clooney, The Hurt Locker, the gritty Iraq war drama, or the mother of all movies, James Cameron’s epic Avatar? With acting honors also bestowed, it will be a fascinating night to say the least. Here are our predictions:

Best Picture: The Hurt Locker

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart

Best Actress: Meryl Streep, Julie and Julia

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, Inglorious Basterds

Best Supporting Actress: Mo’Nique, Precious

Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker

Best Original Screenplay: Inglorious Basterds

Best Adapted Screenplay: Up in the Air

Best Original Score: The Informant

Best Cinematography: Avatar

Best Editing: The Hurt Locker
