Here we go. On Tuesday morning, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will unveil their nominees in all categories. For the first time in a long, long time, there will be ten nominated films for Best Picture. While five to seven of the nominees are predictable, the last few slots will be up for grabs. We have analyzed this race for months and here are our predictions.

2010 Best Picture nominees:

An Education
The Hurt Locker
Precious
Invictus
Up
Avatar
Up in the Air
District 9
A Serious Man
Inglorious Basterds

Editor’s note: Star Trek and The Hangover have recently been talked about as popular choices to crack the top ten, but we think the Academy will veer toward more critically acclaimed films. People mistake the fact that 2008’s The Dark Knight wasn’t just a commercial hit, but also a very well reviewed film. Expect small films like A Serious Man and An Education to fend off the summer blockbusters when all is said and done. Voters can still recognize an Oscar worthy film when they see it.
