BAFTAs Recognize Slumdog

Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up at the BAFTA awards, winning seven awards. Benjamin Button also did well, winning a total of three design-related awards.

Oscar Frenzy correctly predicted twelve out the sixteen BAFTA Winners.

Penn, Ledger, Streep, Winslet and Slumdog Win SAG Awards

The late Heath Ledger picked up another best supporting actor award last night for his performance in The Dark Knight at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Oscar Frenzy correctly predicted three out of the five winners, missing out on Meryl Streep for Doubt and Slumdog Millionaire for best cast.

2009 Oscar Nominations

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button leads all nominees with 13 nominations. Slumdog Millionaire is next with an impressive 10 nominations.

The Reader is a surprise best picture nominee,earning a nomination over the more popular Dark Knight. Clint Eastwood was a curious omission from the best actor nominees and Kate Winslet (The Reader) was able to edge out Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road) for a best actress nomination.

Slumdog and Winslet Earn Golden Globes

Kate Winslet and Slumdog Millionaire both scored big at tonight’s Golden Globe awards. Winslet won for Revolutionary Road and The Reader and Slumdog took home the prize for best motion picture – drama, best screenplay and best director.

Button, Doubt, and Millionaire Nominated for SAG Awards

Oscar Frenzy correctly predicted three out of the five films nominated for Screen Actor’s Guild awards: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt, and Slumdog Millionaire. The two surprise nominations were The Dark Knight and Revolutionary Road. In a bit of an upset, Milk was left out of the best ensemble nominations.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button picked up two more acting nominations for best actor (Brad Pitt) and best supporting actress (Taraji P. Henson). Kate Winslet was nominated for both best actress (Revolutionary Road) and best supporting actress (The Reader).

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Slumdog Millionaire picked up more nominations at Hollywood Foreign Press Association 2008 Golden Globe Awards Nominations this morning.

New York Film Critics Award Milk Best Picture, Supporting Actor, and Actor

The New York Film Critics Association selected Milk as best picture, and awarded the film’s stars, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn, best supporting actor and best actor awards respectively. Happy-Go-Lucky also picked up awards for best actress (Sally Hawkins) and best director (Mike Leigh).
